'Positioning System - whereareyou, iamhere, hereweare', showroom MAMA, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
The exhibition 'Positioning System - whereareyou, iamhere, hereweare' is the final exhibiton in the Mr. Miyagi curatting tomorrow trainng programm. In this training programm, six young people from the Netherlands get trained to become a curator. Organized by showroom MAMA.
For this exhibtion the curators invited eight artists that just graduated from art academies in The Netherlands and Belgium.
For the work 'Positioneringssysteem' I installaed four webcams in the two exhitibionspaces, that could observe the both spaces.
Connected to a computer the webcams made a photo in ten minutes intervals.
At the same time I asked all the people that were involved in building-up the exhibition - curators, artists, etc. - to wear a ancle band, in a distinctive colour, so that they would be recognizable on the photos taken by the webcams.
5 days in a row, during the building-up, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the webcams made a photo in ten minute intervals.
On the photos people were visible, and their position they took in the space. At this spot I stuck a sticker on the floor, in the same colour as their ditinctive ancle bands.
In the end, the floor was covered in different coloured stickers, showing how the people were moving through the space, building up the exhitbition.
