'Tijdslijnen' Installation for the Art route Tussendijken
From November 30th 2006 to January 31st 2007 I will participate in the Art-route in the district of Tussendijken in Rotterdam.
Newly renovated appartments in houses form the 1920s are to be sold within the near future to starting professionals and starting couples.
This project is initiated by de Kunstsuper in cooperation with the housing corporation com.wonen in order to attract people that might want to buy the appartments.
8 artists are asked to make an installation in each of the appartments. The installation had to refer to the district and the appartments itself, to their history and their future.
My installation will consist of mapping out routes on the floor with coloured tape.
I will be mapping the routes taken by people that lives there in the 20's, that might have been a big worker's family.
Of people that lived their some 10 years ago when the area was run-down and housed a lot of junks and criminals.
Of people that might live there in the future.
The work will show the usage of the appartment both in history and in future, and it might give the people that are about to love there some idea of the appartment.
