For my graduation at the Willem de Kooning Academy I reinstalled the performative installation RePositionen which I tried out at the Polysphre exhibition in Berlin.
I finetuned the installation so that it fitted in the space given for the gradshow. I used the same steel tiles to cover the styrofoam as those that covered the floor of the whole exhibtion space.
During the eight days the exhibition lasted I registered the routes for 15 minutes. After that I changed the piles of tiles according to the amount of people that walked over them: many people: the piles became higher, no or few people: the piles became lower.
A relief showed in the floor which in turn influenced the routes people were likely to take.
With this project I graduated with honour and won the 'drempelprijs 2006', together with Eddy van Mourik. The price for the most promising graduate, handed out by the Arts & Culture council of the City of Rotterdam.
Special thanks to the company Maasdamgroep which offered me to use its floor tiles.
